Exodus 15.0:

Exodus 15.1: 15Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said,

“I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously.

He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea.

Exodus 15.2: 2 Yah is my strength and song.

He has become my salvation.

This is my God, and I will praise him;

my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Exodus 15.3: 3 Yahweh is a man of war.

Yahweh is his name.

Exodus 15.4: 4 He has cast Pharaoh’s chariots and his army into the sea.

His chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea.

Exodus 15.5: 5 The deeps cover them.

They went down into the depths like a stone.

Exodus 15.6: 6 Your right hand, Yahweh, is glorious in power.

Your right hand, Yahweh, dashes the enemy in pieces.

Exodus 15.7: 7 In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you.

You send out your wrath. It consumes them as stubble.

Exodus 15.8: 8 With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up.

The floods stood upright as a heap.

The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.

Exodus 15.9: 9 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder.

My desire will be satisfied on them.

I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’

Exodus 15.10: 10 You blew with your wind.

The sea covered them.

They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

Exodus 15.11: 11 Who is like you, Yahweh, among the gods?

Who is like you, glorious in holiness,

fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Exodus 15.12: 12 You stretched out your right hand.

The earth swallowed them.

Exodus 15.13: 13 “You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed.

You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.

Exodus 15.14: 14 The peoples have heard.

They tremble.

Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.

Exodus 15.15: 15 Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed.

Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab.

All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.

Exodus 15.16: 16 Terror and dread falls on them.

By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone,

until your people pass over, Yahweh,

until the people you have purchased pass over.

Exodus 15.17: 17 You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance,

the place, Yahweh, which you have made for yourself to dwell in;

the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established.

Exodus 15.18: 18 Yahweh will reign forever and ever.”

Exodus 15.19: 19 For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Yahweh brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea.

Exodus 15.20: 20 Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.

Exodus 15.21: 21 Miriam answered them,

“Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously.

The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

Exodus 15.22: 22 Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

Exodus 15.23: 23 When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.1

Exodus 15.24: 24 The people murmured against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

Exodus 15.25: 25 Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.

Exodus 15.26: 26 He said, “If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you.”

Exodus 15.27: 27 They came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water, and seventy palm trees. They encamped there by the waters.

Numbers 28.0:

Numbers 28.1: 28Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

Numbers 28.2: 2 “Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘See that you present my offering, my food for my offerings made by fire, as a pleasant aroma to me, in their due season.’

Numbers 28.3: 3 You shall tell them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to Yahweh: male lambs a year old without defect, two day by day, for a continual burnt offering.

Numbers 28.4: 4 You shall offer the one lamb in the morning, and you shall offer the other lamb at evening,

Numbers 28.5: 5 with one tenth of an ephah1 of fine flour for a meal offering, mixed with the fourth part of a hin2 of beaten oil.

Numbers 28.6: 6 It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

Numbers 28.7: 7 Its drink offering shall be the fourth part of a hin3 for each lamb. You shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to Yahweh in the holy place.

Numbers 28.8: 8 The other lamb you shall offer at evening. As the meal offering of the morning, and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

Numbers 28.9: 9 “‘On the Sabbath day, you shall offer two male lambs a year old without defect, and two tenths of an ephah4 of fine flour for a meal offering mixed with oil, and its drink offering:

Numbers 28.10: 10 this is the burnt offering of every Sabbath, in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

Numbers 28.11: 11 “‘In the beginnings of your months, you shall offer a burnt offering to Yahweh: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without defect,

Numbers 28.12: 12 and three tenths of an ephah5 of fine flour for a meal offering mixed with oil, for each bull; and two tenth parts of fine flour for a meal offering mixed with oil, for the one ram;

Numbers 28.13: 13 and one tenth part of fine flour mixed with oil for a meal offering to every lamb, as a burnt offering of a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

Numbers 28.14: 14 Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, the third part of a hin for the ram, and the fourth part of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year.

Numbers 28.15: 15 Also, one male goat for a sin offering to Yahweh shall be offered in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

Numbers 28.16: 16 “‘In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, is Yahweh’s Passover.

Numbers 28.17: 17 On the fifteenth day of this month shall be a feast. Unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days.

Numbers 28.18: 18 In the first day shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work,

Numbers 28.19: 19 but you shall offer an offering made by fire, a burnt offering to Yahweh: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. They shall be without defect,

Numbers 28.20: 20 with their meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil. You shall offer three tenths for a bull, and two tenths for the ram.

Numbers 28.21: 21 You shall offer one tenth for every lamb of the seven lambs;

Numbers 28.22: 22 and one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you.

Numbers 28.23: 23 You shall offer these in addition to the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.

Numbers 28.24: 24 In this way you shall offer daily, for seven days, the food of the offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. It shall be offered in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

Numbers 28.25: 25 On the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work.

Numbers 28.26: 26 “‘Also in the day of the first fruits, when you offer a new meal offering to Yahweh in your feast of weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work;

Numbers 28.27: 27 but you shall offer a burnt offering for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old;

Numbers 28.28: 28 and their meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths for each bull, two tenths for the one ram,

Numbers 28.29: 29 one tenth for every lamb of the seven lambs;

Numbers 28.30: 30 and one male goat, to make atonement for you.

Numbers 28.31: 31 Besides the continual burnt offering and its meal offering, you shall offer them and their drink offerings. See that they are without defect.

Ruth 4.0:

Ruth 4.1: 4Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by. Boaz said to him, “Come over here, friend, and sit down!” He came over, and sat down.

Ruth 4.2: 2 Boaz took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here,” and they sat down.

Ruth 4.3: 3 He said to the near kinsman, “Naomi, who has come back out of the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s.

Ruth 4.4: 4 I thought I should tell you, saying, ‘Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.’ If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you.”

He said, “I will redeem it.”

Ruth 4.5: 5 Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.”

Ruth 4.6: 6 The near kinsman said, “I can’t redeem it for myself, lest I endanger my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can’t redeem it.”

Ruth 4.7: 7 Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of formalizing transactions in Israel.

Ruth 4.8: 8 So the near kinsman said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself,” then he took off his sandal.

Ruth 4.9: 9 Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, “You are witnesses today, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi.

Ruth 4.10: 10 Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses today.”

Ruth 4.11: 11 All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which both built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

Ruth 4.12: 12 Let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the offspring1 which Yahweh will give you by this young woman.”

Ruth 4.13: 13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and he went in to her, and Yahweh enabled her to conceive, and she bore a son.

Ruth 4.14: 14 The women said to Naomi, “Blessed be Yahweh, who has not left you today without a near kinsman. Let his name be famous in Israel.

Ruth 4.15: 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life and sustain you in your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”

Ruth 4.16: 16 Naomi took the child, laid him in her bosom, and became nurse to him.

Ruth 4.17: 17 The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying, “A son is born to Naomi”. They named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Ruth 4.18: 18 Now this is the history of the generations of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,

Ruth 4.19: 19 and Hezron became the father of Ram, and Ram became the father of Amminadab,

Ruth 4.20: 20 and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon became the father of Salmon,

Ruth 4.21: 21 and Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed,

Ruth 4.22: 22 and Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.

Psalms 72.0:

By Solomon.

Psalms 72.1: 72God, give the king your justice;

your righteousness to the royal son.

Psalms 72.2: 2 He will judge your people with righteousness,

and your poor with justice.

Psalms 72.3: 3 The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people.

The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.

Psalms 72.4: 4 He will judge the poor of the people.

He will save the children of the needy,

and will break the oppressor in pieces.

Psalms 72.5: 5 They shall fear you while the sun endures;

and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.

Psalms 72.6: 6 He will come down like rain on the mown grass,

as showers that water the earth.

Psalms 72.7: 7 In his days, the righteous shall flourish,

and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

Psalms 72.8: 8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,

from the River to the ends of the earth.

Psalms 72.9: 9 Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him.

His enemies shall lick the dust.

Psalms 72.10: 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute.

The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

Psalms 72.11: 11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before him.

All nations shall serve him.

Psalms 72.12: 12 For he will deliver the needy when he cries;

the poor, who has no helper.

Psalms 72.13: 13 He will have pity on the poor and needy.

He will save the souls of the needy.

Psalms 72.14: 14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence.

Their blood will be precious in his sight.

Psalms 72.15: 15 They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba.

Men shall pray for him continually.

They shall bless him all day long.

Psalms 72.16: 16 Abundance of grain shall be throughout the land.

Its fruit sways like Lebanon.

Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.

Psalms 72.17: 17 His name endures forever.

His name continues as long as the sun.

Men shall be blessed by him.

All nations will call him blessed.

Psalms 72.18: 18 Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel,

who alone does marvelous deeds.

Psalms 72.19: 19 Blessed be his glorious name forever!

Let the whole earth be filled with his glory!

Psalms 125.0:

A Song of Ascents.

Psalms 125.1: 125Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion,

which can’t be moved, but remains forever.

Psalms 125.2: 2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so Yahweh surrounds his people from this time forward and forever more.

Psalms 125.3: 3 For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous;

so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.

Psalms 125.4: 4 Do good, Yahweh, to those who are good,

to those who are upright in their hearts.

Psalms 125.5: 5 But as for those who turn away to their crooked ways,

Yahweh will lead them away with the workers of iniquity.

Proverbs 5.0:

Proverbs 5.1: 5My son, pay attention to my wisdom.

Turn your ear to my understanding,

Proverbs 5.2: 2 that you may maintain discretion,

that your lips may preserve knowledge.

Proverbs 5.3: 3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey.

Her mouth is smoother than oil,

Jeremiah 51.0:

Jeremiah 51.1: 51Yahweh says:

“Behold, I will raise up against Babylon,

and against those who dwell in Lebkamai, a destroying wind.

Jeremiah 51.2: 2 I will send to Babylon strangers, who will winnow her.

They will empty her land;

for in the day of trouble they will be against her all around.

Jeremiah 51.3: 3 Against him who bends, let the archer bend his bow,

also against him who lifts himself up in his coat of mail.

Don’t spare her young men!

Utterly destroy all her army!

Jeremiah 51.4: 4 They will fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans,

and thrust through in her streets.

Jeremiah 51.5: 5 For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, by his God,

by Yahweh of Armies;

though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.

Jeremiah 51.6: 6 “Flee out of the middle of Babylon!

Everyone save his own life!

Don’t be cut off in her iniquity;

for it is the time of Yahweh’s vengeance.

He will render to her a recompense.

Jeremiah 51.7: 7 Babylon has been a golden cup in Yahweh’s hand,

who made all the earth drunk.

The nations have drunk of her wine;

therefore the nations have gone mad.

Jeremiah 51.8: 8 Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed!

Wail for her!

Take balm for her pain.

Perhaps she may be healed.

Jeremiah 51.9: 9 “We would have healed Babylon,

but she is not healed.

Forsake her,

and let’s each go into his own country;

for her judgment reaches to heaven,

and is lifted up even to the skies.

Jeremiah 51.10: 10 ‘Yahweh has produced our righteousness:

come, and let’s declare in Zion the work of Yahweh our God.’

Jeremiah 51.11: 11 “Make the arrows sharp!

Hold the shields firmly!

Yahweh has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes,

because his purpose is against Babylon, to destroy it;

for it is the vengeance of Yahweh,

the vengeance of his temple.

Jeremiah 51.12: 12 Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon!

Make the watch strong!

Set the watchmen,

and prepare the ambushes;

for Yahweh has both purposed and done

that which he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

Jeremiah 51.13: 13 You who dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures,

your end has come, the measure of your covetousness.

Jeremiah 51.14: 14 Yahweh of Armies has sworn by himself, saying,

‘Surely I will fill you with men,

as with the canker worm;

and they will lift up a shout against you.’

Jeremiah 51.15: 15 “He has made the earth by his power.

He has established the world by his wisdom.

By his understanding he has stretched out the heavens.

Jeremiah 51.16: 16 When he utters his voice,

there is a roar of waters in the heavens,

and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth.

He makes lightning for the rain,

and brings the wind out of his treasuries.

Jeremiah 51.17: 17 “Every man has become brutish without knowledge.

Every goldsmith is disappointed by his image;

for his molten image is falsehood,

and there is no breath in them.

Jeremiah 51.18: 18 They are vanity,

a work of delusion.

In the time of their visitation, they will perish.

Jeremiah 51.19: 19 The portion of Jacob is not like these,

for he is the former of all things;

including the tribe of his inheritance:

Yahweh of Armies is his name.

Jeremiah 51.20: 20 “You are my battle ax and weapons of war.

With you I will break the nations into pieces.

With you I will destroy kingdoms.

Jeremiah 51.21: 21 With you I will break in pieces

the horse and his rider.

Jeremiah 51.22: 22 With you I will break in pieces

the chariot and him who rides therein.

With you I will break in pieces

man and woman.

With you I will break in pieces

the old man and the youth.

With you I will break in pieces

the young man and the virgin.

Jeremiah 51.23: 23 With you I will break in pieces

the shepherd and his flock.

With you I will break in pieces

the farmer and his yoke.

With you I will break in pieces

governors and deputies.

Jeremiah 51.24: 24 “I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51.25: 25 “Behold, I am against you, destroying mountain,” says Yahweh,

“which destroys all the earth.

I will stretch out my hand on you,

roll you down from the rocks,

and will make you a burned mountain.

Jeremiah 51.26: 26 They won’t take a cornerstone from you,

nor a stone for foundations;

but you will be desolate forever,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51.27: 27 “Set up a standard in the land!

Blow the trumpet among the nations!

Prepare the nations against her!

Call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz!

Appoint a marshal against her!

Cause the horses to come up as the rough canker worm!

Jeremiah 51.28: 28 Prepare against her the nations,

the kings of the Medes, its governors, and all its deputies, and all the land of their dominion!

Jeremiah 51.29: 29 The land trembles and is in pain;

for the purposes of Yahweh against Babylon stand,

to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.

Jeremiah 51.30: 30 The mighty men of Babylon have stopped fighting,

they remain in their strongholds.

Their might has failed.

They have become as women.

Her dwelling places are set on fire.

Her bars are broken.

Jeremiah 51.31: 31 One runner will run to meet another,

and one messenger to meet another,

to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every quarter.

Jeremiah 51.32: 32 So the passages are seized.

They have burned the reeds with fire.

The men of war are frightened.”

Jeremiah 51.33: 33 For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says:

“The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden.

Yet a little while, and the time of harvest comes for her.”

Jeremiah 51.34: 34 “Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me.

He has crushed me.

He has made me an empty vessel.

He has, like a monster, swallowed me up.

He has filled his mouth with my delicacies.

He has cast me out.

Jeremiah 51.35: 35 May the violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon!”

the inhabitant of Zion will say; and,

“May my blood be on the inhabitants of Chaldea!”

will Jerusalem say.

Jeremiah 51.36: 36 Therefore Yahweh says:

“Behold, I will plead your cause,

and take vengeance for you.

I will dry up her sea,

and make her fountain dry.

Jeremiah 51.37: 37 Babylon will become heaps,

a dwelling place for jackals,

an astonishment, and a hissing,

without inhabitant.

Jeremiah 51.38: 38 They will roar together like young lions.

They will growl as lions’ cubs.

Jeremiah 51.39: 39 When they are heated, I will make their feast,

and I will make them drunk,

that they may rejoice,

and sleep a perpetual sleep,

and not wake up,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51.40: 40 “I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter,

like rams with male goats.

Jeremiah 51.41: 41 “How Sheshach is taken!

How the praise of the whole earth seized!

How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations!

Jeremiah 51.42: 42 The sea has come up on Babylon.

She is covered with the multitude of its waves.

Jeremiah 51.43: 43 Her cities have become a desolation,

a dry land, and a desert,

a land in which no man dwells.

No son of man passes by it.

Jeremiah 51.44: 44 I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon,

and I will bring out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up.

The nations will not flow any more to him.

Yes, the wall of Babylon will fall.

Jeremiah 51.45: 45 “My people, go away from the middle of her,

and each of you save yourselves from Yahweh’s fierce anger.

Jeremiah 51.46: 46 Don’t let your heart faint.

Don’t fear for the news that will be heard in the land.

For news will come one year,

and after that in another year news will come,

and violence in the land,

ruler against ruler.

Jeremiah 51.47: 47 Therefore behold, the days come that I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon;

and her whole land will be confounded.

All her slain will fall in the middle of her.

Jeremiah 51.48: 48 Then the heavens and the earth,

and all that is therein,

will sing for joy over Babylon;

for the destroyers will come to her from the north,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51.49: 49 “As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall,

so the slain of all the land will fall at Babylon.

Jeremiah 51.50: 50 You who have escaped the sword, go!

Don’t stand still!

Remember Yahweh from afar,

and let Jerusalem come into your mind.”

Jeremiah 51.51: 51 “We are confounded,

because we have heard reproach.

Confusion has covered our faces,

for strangers have come into the sanctuaries of Yahweh’s house.”

Jeremiah 51.52: 52 “Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,

“that I will execute judgment on her engraved images;

and through all her land the wounded will groan.

Jeremiah 51.53: 53 Though Babylon should mount up to the sky,

and though she should fortify the height of her strength,

yet destroyers will come to her from me,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51.54: 54 “The sound of a cry comes from Babylon,

and of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!

Jeremiah 51.55: 55 For Yahweh lays Babylon waste,

and destroys out of her the great voice!

Their waves roar like many waters.

The noise of their voice is uttered.

Jeremiah 51.56: 56 For the destroyer has come on her,

even on Babylon.

Her mighty men are taken.

Their bows are broken in pieces,

for Yahweh is a God of retribution.

He will surely repay.

Jeremiah 51.57: 57 I will make her princes, her wise men,

her governors, her deputies, and her mighty men drunk.

They will sleep a perpetual sleep,

and not wake up,”

says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.

Jeremiah 51.58: 58 Yahweh of Armies says:

“The wide walls of Babylon will be utterly overthrown.

Her high gates will be burned with fire.

The peoples will labor for vanity,

and the nations for the fire;

and they will be weary.”

Jeremiah 51.59: 59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was chief quartermaster.

Jeremiah 51.60: 60 Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come on Babylon, even all these words that are written concerning Babylon.

Jeremiah 51.61: 61 Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you come to Babylon, then see that you read all these words,

Jeremiah 51.62: 62 and say, ‘Yahweh, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that no one will dwell in it, neither man nor animal, but that it will be desolate forever.’

Jeremiah 51.63: 63 It will be, when you have finished reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the middle of the Euphrates.

Jeremiah 51.64: 64 Then you shall say, ‘Thus will Babylon sink, and will not rise again because of the evil that I will bring on her; and they will be weary.’”

Daniel 10.1: 10In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare. He understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

Daniel 10.2: 2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.

Daniel 10.3: 3 I ate no pleasant bread. No meat or wine came into my mouth. I didn’t anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

Daniel 10.6: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches. His arms and his feet were like burnished bronze. The voice of his words was like the voice of a multitude.

Daniel 10.7: 7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

Daniel 10.8: 8 So I was left alone, and saw this great vision. No strength remained in me; for my face grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.

Daniel 10.9: 9 Yet I heard the voice of his words. When I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.

Daniel 10.10: 10 Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

Daniel 10.15: 15 When he had spoken these words to me, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute.

Daniel 10.16: 16 Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, “My lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows have overtaken me, and I retain no strength.

Daniel 10.17: 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? For as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me. There was no breath left in me.”

Daniel 10.18: 18 Then one like the appearance of a man touched me again, and he strengthened me.

Daniel 10.19: 19 He said, “Greatly beloved man, don’t be afraid. Peace be to you. Be strong. Yes, be strong.”

When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.”

Daniel 10.20: 20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come.

1 Maccabees 5.2: 2 And they took counsel to destroy the race of Jacob that was in the midst of them, and they began to kill and destroy among the people.

1 Maccabees 5.3: 3 And Judas fought against the children of Esau in Idumaea at Akrabattine, because they besieged Israel: and he struck them with a great slaughter, and brought down their pride, and took their spoils.

1 Maccabees 15.3: 3 Forasmuch as certain pestilent fellows have made themselves masters of the kingdom of our fathers, but my purpose is to claim the kingdom, that I may restore it as it was before; and moreover I have raised a multitude of foreign soldiers, and have prepared ships of war;

1 Maccabees 15.4: 4 moreover I am minded to land in the country, that I may punish those who have destroyed our country, and those who have made many cities in the kingdom desolate:

1 Maccabees 15.5: 5 Now therefore I confirm to you all the exactions which the kings that were before me remitted to you, and whatever gifts besides they remitted to you:

1 Maccabees 15.6: 6 and I give you leave to coin money for your country with your own stamp,

1 Maccabees 15.25: 25 But Antiochus the king encamped against Dor the second day, bringing his forces up to it continually, and making engines of war, and he shut up Tryphon from going in or out.

1 Maccabees 15.26: 26 And Simon sent him two thousand chosen men to fight on his side; and silver, and gold, and instruments of war in abundance.

1 Maccabees 15.27: 27 And he would not receive them, but set at nothing all the covenants which he had made with him aforetime, and was estranged from him.

1 Maccabees 15.31: 31 or else give me for them five hundred talents of silver; and for the harm that you° have done, and the tributes of the cities, other five hundred talents: or else we will come and subdue you.

1 Maccabees 15.32: 32 And Athenobius the king’s 7 Friend came to Jerusalem; and he saw the glory of Simon, and the cupboard of gold and silver vessels, and his great attendance, and he was amazed; and he reported to him the king’s words.

We have neither taken other men’s land, nor have we possession of that which appertains to others, but of the inheritance of our fathers; however, it was had in possession of our enemies wrongfully for a certain time.

1 Maccabees 15.35: 35 But as touching Joppa and Gazara, which you demand, they did great harm among the people throughout our country, we will give a hundred talents for them.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.14: 14 and said, Come! Let’s go and make war against the sea, that it may depart away before us, and that we may make us more woods.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.15: 15 The waves of the sea also in like manner took counsel together, and said, Come! Let’s go up and subdue the wood of the plain, that there also we may make us another country.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.16: 16 The counsel of the wood was in vain, for the fire came and consumed it:

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.17: 17 likewise also the counsel of the waves of the sea, for the sand stood up and stopped them.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.18: 18 If you were judge now between these two, whom would you justify, or whom condemn?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.19: 19 I answered and said, it is a foolish counsel that they both have taken, for the ground is given to the wood, and the place of the sea is given to bear his waves.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.20: 20 Then answered he me, and said, You have given a right judgement, and why judge you not in your own case?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.21: 21 For like as the ground is given to the wood, and the sea to his waves, even so those who dwell upon the earth may understand nothing but that which is upon the earth: and he only that dwells above the heavens may understand the things that are above the height of the heavens.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.22: 22 Then answered I and said, I beseech you, O Lord, 9 wherefore is the power of understanding given to me?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.23: 23 For it was not in my mind to be curious of the ways above, but of such things as pass by us daily; because Israel is given up as a reproach to the heathen, and the people whom you have loved is given over to ungodly nations, and the law of our forefathers is made of none effect, and the written covenants are nowhere regarded,

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.24: 24 and we pass away out of the world as grasshoppers, and our life is as a 1 vapor, neither are we worthy to obtain mercy.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.25: 25 What will he then do for his name whereby we are called? Of these things have I asked.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.26: 26 Then he answered me, and said, if you be alive you shall see, and if you live 2 long, you shall marvel; for the world hastens fast to pass away.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.27: 27 For it is not able to bear the things that are promised to the righteous in the times to come: for this world is full of sadness and infirmities.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.28: 28 For the evil 3 whereof you asked me is sown, but the gathering thereof is not yet come.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.29: 29 If therefore that which is sown be not reaped, and if the place where the evil is sown pass not away, there can’t come the field where the good is sown.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.30: 30 For a grain of evil seed was sown in the heart of Adam from the beginning, and how much wickedness has it brought forth to this time! and how much shall it yet bring forth until the 4 time of threshing come!

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.31: 31 Ponder now by yourself, how great fruit of wickedness a grain of evil seed has brought forth.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.32: 32 When the ears which are without number shall be sown, how great a floor shall they fill!

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.33: 33 Then I answered and said, 5 How long? and when shall these things come to pass? wherefore are our years few and evil?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.34: 34 And he answered me, and said, You do not hasten more than the Most High: for your haste is 6 for your own self, but he that is above hastens on behalf of many.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.35: 35 Did not the souls of the righteous ask question of these things in their chambers, saying, How long 7 are we here? when comes the fruit of the 8 threshing time of our reward?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.36: 36 And to them Jeremiel the archangel gave answer, and said, Even when the number is fulfilled of those who are like to you. For he has weighed the world in the balance;

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.37: 37 and by measure has he measured the times, and by number has he counted the seasons; and he shall not 9 move nor stir them, until the said measure be fulfilled.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.38: 38 Then answered I and said, O Lord that bear rule, yet even we all are full of impiety:

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.39: 39 and for our sakes perhaps it is that the 1 threshing time of the righteous is kept back, because of the sins of those who dwell upon the earth.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.40: 40 So he answered me, and said, Go your way to a woman with child, and ask of her when she has fulfilled her nine months, if her womb may keep the birth any longer within her.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.41: 41 Then said I, no, Lord, that can it not.

And he said to me, in the grave the chambers of souls are like the womb:

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.42: 42 for like as a woman that travails makes haste to escape the anguish of the travail: even so do these places haste to deliver those things that are committed to them from the beginning.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.43: 43 Then shall it be showed you concerning those things which you desire to see.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.44: 44 Then answered I and said, if I have found favor in your sight, and if it be possible, and if I be meet therefore,

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.45: 45 show me this also, whether there be more to come than is past, or whether the more part is gone over us.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.46: 46 For what is gone I know, but what is for to come I know not.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.47: 47 And he said to me, Stand up upon the right side, and I shall expound the similitude to you.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.48: 48 so I stood, and saw, and, behold, a hot burning oven passed by before me: and it happened, that when the flame was gone by I looked, and, behold, the smoke remained still.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.49: 49 After this there passed by before me a watery cloud, and sent down much rain with a storm; and when the stormy rain was past, the drops remained therein still.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.50: 50 Then said he to me, Consider with yourself; as the rain is more than the drops, and the fire is greater than the smoke, so the quantity which is past did more exceed; but the drops and the smoke remained still.

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.51: 51 Then I prayed, and said, May I live, think you, until that time? or who shall be in those days?

2 Esdras (Latin) 4.52: 52 He answered me, and said, As for the tokens whereof you asked me, I may tell you of them in part: but as touching your life, I am not sent to show you; for I do not know it.

Daniel (Greek) 4.0:

Daniel (Greek) 4.1: 4Nebuchadnezzar the king,

to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth:

Peace be multiplied to you.

Daniel (Greek) 4.2: 2 It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked toward me.

Daniel (Greek) 4.3: 3 How great are his signs!

How mighty are his wonders!

His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.

His dominion is from generation to generation.

Daniel (Greek) 4.4: 4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.

Daniel (Greek) 4.5: 5 I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

Daniel (Greek) 4.6: 6 Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

Daniel (Greek) 4.7: 7 Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in; and I told the dream before them; but they didn’t make known to me its interpretation.

Daniel (Greek) 4.8: 8 But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. I told the dream before him, saying,

Daniel (Greek) 4.9: 9 “Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.

Daniel (Greek) 4.10: 10 Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the middle of the earth; and its height was great.

Daniel (Greek) 4.11: 11 The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its sight to the end of all the earth.

Daniel (Greek) 4.12: 12 The leaves of it were beautiful, and it had much fruit, and in it was food for all. The animals of the field had shade under it, and the birds of the sky lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.

Daniel (Greek) 4.13: 13 “I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky.

Daniel (Greek) 4.14: 14 He cried aloud, and said this, ‘Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches! Shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit! Let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches.

Daniel (Greek) 4.15: 15 Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky. Let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth.

Daniel (Greek) 4.16: 16 Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let an animal’s heart be given to him. Then let seven times pass over him.

Daniel (Greek) 4.17: 17 “‘The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men.’

Daniel (Greek) 4.18: 18 “This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

Daniel (Greek) 4.19: 19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, “Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you.”

Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.

Daniel (Greek) 4.20: 20 The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the sky, and its sight to all the earth;

Daniel (Greek) 4.21: 21 whose leaves were beautiful, and its fruit plentiful, and in it was food for all; under which the animals of the field lived, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their habitation:

Daniel (Greek) 4.22: 22 it is you, O king, that have grown and become strong; for your greatness has grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.

Daniel (Greek) 4.23: 23 “Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, ‘Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky. Let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him.

Daniel (Greek) 4.24: 24 “This is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which has come on my lord the king:

Daniel (Greek) 4.25: 25 that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.

Daniel (Greek) 4.26: 26 Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you will have known that the heavens do rule.

Daniel (Greek) 4.27: 27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.”

Daniel (Greek) 4.28: 28 All this came on the king Nebuchadnezzar.

Daniel (Greek) 4.29: 29 At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon.

Daniel (Greek) 4.30: 30 The king spoke and said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?”

Daniel (Greek) 4.31: 31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from the sky, saying, “O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: ‘The kingdom has departed from you.

Daniel (Greek) 4.32: 32 You shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass as oxen. Seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.’”

Daniel (Greek) 4.33: 33 This was fulfilled the same hour on Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.

Daniel (Greek) 4.34: 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever;

for his dominion is an everlasting dominion,

and his kingdom from generation to generation.

Daniel (Greek) 4.35: 35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;

and he does according to his will in the army of heaven,

and among the inhabitants of the earth;

and no one can stop his hand,

or ask him, “What are you doing?”

Daniel (Greek) 4.36: 36 At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me. My counselors and my lords sought me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me.

Daniel (Greek) 4.37: 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
